HISTORY
MOD started in 1974 as a magazine for the youth called Sixteen, the pioneer teen magazine in the Philippines. In the next five years, the young readers of MOD grew fast—graduating from college, finding a job, getting married and all. As the girls turned into women, so did MOD, turning from teen to a women’s magazine, zooming as the Number 1 magazine in the country in the ‘80s. By this time, those 16-year-olds were already going into their 30s, most of them with young children, toddlers growing into ‘tweens. These ’tweens began blooming into teens picking up, and peering into their mothers' MOD. So we added a few more pages just for the teenagers, calling the department MOD Jr.

As MOD entered the Third Millennium, readers of MOD Jr. have become the MOD regular readers because by this time, the girls have turned into women, too! They are twenty something, going into 30 and 40—MOD’s Generation Now. Thus, MOD Generation Now was born.

With the proliferation of monthly glossies, MOD decided to evolve once more as a monthly magazine answering the needs of the Filipino women with the Passion for Perfection.

Because of MOD's timely and timeless tips on women's lifestyles, readers have developed the habit of cutting the articles and collecting them for their references as they live their daily grind--in style. To make things easier for readers, MOD changed its format so that every collectible article may be cut and filed in a uniform way. So now, every issue of MOD has become a collector's item.

MOD now has a website, www.mod.com.ph, to enable the Information Technology generation to access the latest offerings of the magazine. MOD also has a growing fanbase on Facebook and followers on Twitter.

THE PUBLISHER
MOD is published by Atlas Publishing Co. Inc., the pioneer in the publishing industry. Atlas anchors itself in a mission for the Filipino people.
Publishing is more than just a lucrative business. It goes beyond merely surviving stiff competition or making sure the publications hit it big on the stands. Indeed, there’s more to it than fame or big bucks.

It’s more about social responsibility. Every word written and every single image manifested in any reading material, when published, becomes a potent tool to impart knowledge, inspire action, elicit views, share joy and hope, create a vision, and even realize dreams.

For Atlas, the home of the publications that have been a part of the Filipino's life for the past 50 years, publishing means precisely that—taking responsibility seriously by producing materials that are a good vehicle for education and leisure. Atlas aims to fulfill the readers’ need to gain knowledge as well as enjoyment from their magazines, books, the daily paper. For years now, Filipinos have laughed, cried, loved, hoped, dreamed and have been better individuals with Atlas reads.

VISION AND MISSION
For the past 36 years, MOD, the country’s longest-running women’s magazine, has been every woman’s ultimate handbook to answering all the issues that affect her life.

No matter how times have changed, the Filipino woman’s concern remains the same as it was three decades ago. It is the desire to be the best person that she can be in every area of her life.

MOD satisfies this desire as it now takes the position as a fashion and lifestyle magazine devoted to the Filipino woman--the woman who explores the limitless possibilities that life has to offer. MOD presents to her the best options—what’s now to keep her abreast of the times and what’s next so she can be several steps ahead of her peers.
