Wildlife Bash

As a treat to their fans, Pupil has released a special edition of their Wildlife CD. Wildlife Special Edition comes in 2-CD packaging with remastered tracks from the band’s highly acclaimed sophomore release, Wildlife, plus recordings from the band’s Eyes in the Sky Big Night Live for Pupilcity listers gig, demos, music videos, wallpapers, and liner notes by Aldus Santos. It also includes the new single Different Worlds, which is specifically made for the album.

At the band’s pocket concert at the Skydome in SM North EDSA to launch the album and mark their fourth year in the music industry, heavy rains didn’t deter fans from watching the concert and Pupil didn’t disappoint. Composed of Ely Buendia on lead vocals and guitar, Yan Yuzon on guitar, Wendell Garcia on drums, and Dok Sergio on bass, Pupil played all their hits, from Monobloc, Sala, Teacher’s Pet, and Disconnection Notice among others. At one point during the show, Buendia played the opening riffs of Michael Jackson’s Man in the Mirror which drove the crowd wild, while Garcia sang vocals.

Wildlife won 2008 Album of the Year at the NU Rock Awards which also honored the band as Artist Of the Year, Producer of the Year (along with Jerome Velasco of Teeth). Garcia also won Drummer of the Year, while the band’s video for the song Monobloc was named Best Music Video. - Christian Garcia

Album Review:

Project6cyclemind

6cyclemind’s fifth album, Project6cyclemind, shows why they’re still in the biz. A compilation of the band’s previous projects for other artists, the 12-track CD is a collaboration with various artists including Gloc 9, Wendell Garcia of Pupil, and maestro Ryan Cayabyab with a pop-sounding and videoke-friendly vibe. It includes popular covers such as the euphoric Eraserheads original Alapaap, and Ryan Cayabyab’s Takipsilim. Other tracks include the melodic Mahiwagang Pag-ibig, social awareness songs like Dream and Sagot Kita—recorded for the ABS-CBN Foundation, the nostalgic Sa Langit, Kung Wala Ka Na, Walang Iwanan, and the liquor jingle Noon at Ngayon. Ratings: 4/5 - Christian Garcia
