Holiday Forecast

Festive and Flirty

THE Holiday Season has begun and with all the parties and gift-giving that goes with it, the days ahead can be both exciting and panic-inducing. Unfortunately, your ubiquitous little black dress which used to be your saving grace in all occasions won’t do you good this time around. Wouldn’t it be nicer to wear something different for a change and look astoundingly fabulous this season? In an effort to pull you out of our usual beauty slump, here are some tricks and treats to freshen up your regular routines:

Metallic Is In

The word this season is ‘metallic.’ The best eye shadows to use are those with tons of glitter and frost. Colors that are oh-so-hot for the holidays are smokey green and smokey gray. For your lips, ‘bordeaux’ lips are in–dark colors ranging from red, wine, and berry. It truly is a big commitment to be wearing these bold colors, but look at the bright side: they instantly turn your day look into cocktail-ready with great staying power! And if you’re in the mood to experiment, try using purple lipstick in metallic frost.

Lush-foxy va-va-voom lashes that veer toward the ‘drag-queen’ side are something you should try this season. Longer, fuller, and darker lashes are the way to go. You can either wear falsies or do 12 coats of mascara to get the ‘Lady-Bunny’ level statement.

For nails that call for attention, gray nail polish is the color of choice of Hollywood celebs like Gwyneth Paltrow. It may look like an odd color, but it goes perfectly well with anything, so go and explore and have fun with it!

Curls Rock

This season, big curls that rock are smoking hot. In addition to this, finger waves and S curls are making a comeback. Must-haves this season are sparkly headpieces from bows, bands, and feather-festooned pieces. Their presence certainly brightens up a cold night.

Needle Heels To-Go

The holiday spells colors, so footwear come in a variety of hot colors, from hot pink to electric blue to animal prints. The best heels to look for, however, are ‘needle heels.’ They look real deadly but make a big statement.

Fashion Craze

Cocktail dresses for this season are subtly sexy and not tarty. The color choice is Wine. Your guideline in choosing the right cocktail dress is this: once you wear it, you feel like a cross between Audrey Hepburn and Madonna.

For some bonding moment with your girlfriends, opt for stretch lace tops with jeans and heels for a casual but show-stopping look. Remember, you just don’t know who might drop by in that party so better be prepared all the time.

Black-tie affairs aren’t what they used to be. Wearing floor-length gowns no longer applies. It’s now okay to wear more-casual ensembles for the reason that you don’t want to look like a ‘bridesmaid on acid.’ Purple is plum color preferred this season.

For the office party, don’t think of it as another holiday party. This time, it’s not okay to sport some major cleavage but it doesn’t mean either that you must look like a convent candidate. The best outfit to have is a wrap dress. Ditch those pointy shoes at work and go in pretty peep-toes and metallic clutch for your office event.
